from the fear of altering the Statutes being conferred. Richbishop of Canterbury conjointly with the Warden and the Colonial Secretary, with mutual agreement being made provisionally for the event of a difference of opinion amongst them.

I am happy to be able to inform Your Lordship that, previous to the receipt of Your Lordship's Despatch, any prospect of difference of opinion had long completely dissipated by the arrival of the revised Statutes from England, signed by His Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury, a copy of which I have the honour to enclose.

The original Statutes of St. Paul's College were altered by Bishop Burdon in agreement with Mr. Smith, the then Acting Colonial Secretary, shortly after the Ordinance passed the Legislative Council. The Statutes with the alterations made and signed by Bishop Burdon and the Acting Colonial Secretary were then forwarded to the Archbishop of Canterbury for his consideration, and His Grace having approved the alterations, signed the revised Statutes, which were then published in the Government Gazette.
