IS Mars trying to signal the earth? A Riviera scientist, Pro
fessor Robert Damion, is firmly convinced that this is the caso, and bases his 'saxertion" on certain phenomena, recently observed by him in the Basses Alpes Mountains.
This winter, during several nights which were pitch dark In the absence of moon and stars, I noticed a portion of the sky in the vicinity of Mars suddenly lit up by a strange bluish iight, *This light lasted forty seconds each time, recurred at regular intervais, and was so strong that one could easily read a newspaper by it," Professor Damion said.
"Similar phenomena have occurred before in Franco and been romarked on, by my fellow-astronomers. The last time was eight years ago in the Lyons' district.
