any further concessions in favour of public Officers at the expense of the Colonial Revenues.

3. With respect to the Police, I have to observe that it was with special regard to the case of those who were sent out in 1867, whose salaries appear to have been inadvertently expressed in Sterling in their contract, that I decided on allowing the servants of the Govt to draw part of their salaries at home under certain conditions at the rate of 4/2, without making them pay the cost of remittance as has been decided in some other Colonies. I shall be ready to give this special consideration to the application of any members of the Police Force who have been engaged at home.

4. I do not think it expedient to adopt your suggestion that Bank orders should be issued in the Colony; your Govt. by taking advantage of special seasons of the year for remitting considerable sums of money may be exposed to less trouble or expense than by remitting small sums by every mail.
