SHELLS THAT ARE EXPLODED BY A RAINDROP

A New of is mounted in the Swedish warship, Gotland, which is on a visit to England.
This new anti-aircraft gun is a single-barrelled weapon, capable of firing high. explosive shells of just under one inch calibre at a rate of 180 a minute.
The shells are so sensitive that they will explode if they pass through even ono thickness of light aeroplane fabric,
Their renativity has; in fact, had to be reduced, for it was found that they were too sensitive for use in rainy weather, as contact with a raindrop was sufficient to cause detonation.
The guns are very light and are mounted upon free pivots so that they can be trained and clovated with great rapidity and without effort. The shells are fitted with "tracers," so that the guns' crews can handle thoir weapons much in the same way as a fireman handles n hose, spraying high explosive at attacking aircraft.

Plan To End Outlawry
PENALTY: DEATH AND CONFISCATION
If the recommendations made in the third and final report of the Business of Courts Committee, are adopted, semo atrange and ancient laws will be abolished. The report was issued last month. Lord Han- worth, formerly Master of the Rolls, was chairman of the Com- mittee.
The recommendations deal with questions of Crown Offles rules, procedure in patent actions, and the uddavit of shipa' papers. It is pointed out that the Crown "Office rules were first made in 1883, and have now become out of date.
