British Action at Once to Reach Agreement
In has been announced that the Australian Common- wealth Government has rejected Britain's plan for the England-Australia air mail service, and Mr. Lyons, the Prime Minister, states that the Cabinet has decided to retain control of, and responsibility for, the Sydney to Singapore air service.
This decision has astonished the officials of the British Air Ministry and the Post Office who drew up the great acherne in 1934-before the England-Australia air race aroused a demand for faster services.

Thus, by refusing to agree..to the British proposals, the Aus- tralian Government has "drop ped a spanner" in the workings of a plan for the greatest deve- lopment in the history of world air transport.
British offelals are in consulta tion and Australia's ideas will be referred to the committee under Sir

More than 2,500,000 persons have signed the registry in Abra- ham Lincoln's tomb here in Oak Ridge cemetery, it was disclosed! by Herbert Wells Fay, custodian for the past 15 years.
The year 1928 was the banner' Warren Fisher, which is one for persons registering at the advising in the development of tomb. In that year 141,040 per-

Breaking Plan In Half Under the scheme the British flying boat leaving England would fly right through to Australia on the same lines as the Dutch Bata-
sons signed the registry. During 1935 the total number registering was 112,000.
