Hongkong's first mass marriage, when eleven Chiness couples ware united, took place at the Chinese Y.M.CA. on Saturday afternoon, the Hon. Sir Shouson Chow officiating The hall was taxed to capacity with interested people.
Among the participants in the mass marriage there were teachers, clerks, merchants and workmen.
Members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the Boy Scouts had very busy time keeping the crowd in check and ensuring that only those specially invited should enter the premises.

The ceremony commenced when the members of the organising committee took their places on the platform, the orchestra playing the "Blue Danube" The proceedings began with a speech Mr. David K. K. The couples ascended to the plat form, where they made their bows to Sir Shouson Chow, and then bowed. to each other and exchanged rings. They were then presented each with red and silk scrolls containing tho marriage certificates.
When the ceremonies were com- pleted, Sir Shouson Chow spoke briefly and emphasised that the basic readout for mass marriage was economy.
