Admiral of the Fleet (Retd.) Eárl Boatty of the North Sea and of Brooksby was born 65 years ago last Saturday.
He entered the Royal Navy in 1884, gained his Commission fourteen years later, became a Rear Admiral in 1910 and a Vico Admiral in 1915. Shortly after the end of the Great War he was appointed Full Admiral and became Admiral of the Fleet in the same year. In a life full of martial adventure ho served in the Soudan War, in China and the Great War. He has more decorations than could bo mentioned in the space loft for this intro- duction.
