Graduates, students and friends of the Hongkong University gathered in large numbers in the Great Hali yesterday afternoon for a tea party given by the University Union at which a cordlol welcome was given to His Excellency the Governor, Sir Andrew Caldecott, Chancellor of the University, as the new Patron of the Union.
The value of the Union as a training ground for students was stressed by the speakers. His Excellency in the course of hly renly said he regarded the Union as the Faculty of Social "Philosophy" and "Team-work.

TRAIN
London, Jan, 15, Twenty-three persons were injured. several acriously, when a passenger express from Penzance ran into the rear of a goods train cutting near Swindon early this morning. Both trains were derailed. The line was! blocked. Those who were injure! were taken to hospital

The Union manages its own affairs with the assistance of the Registrar who in cur on.
