In conclusion I would point out that these plans provide barely 96 beds: the colony needs at least 120, and this is the more unfortunate because the plan admits of no future extension: no resident Surgeon's quarters are provided.
And I must protest against the supposition that this building can be erected for £20,000: I doubt its being possible to erect a hospital for 120 beds on this site for that sum.
I am quite convinced that the adoption of these plans will entail upon the colony an expenditure which will not only be excessive but unsatisfactory.
I may also observe that Mr. Hawkins has yet to furnish detailed drawings and specifications.
