The Hospital for Deaf patients has been arranged as possible on the system adopted for most of the Hospitals recently erected; having the Wards in pavilions plans at some distance apart and connected by Corridors. Each pavilion has three storeys; the lowest storey is a basement, used also as offices and in others introduced with the view of raising the floors of the Wards.

At some little distance above the ground level. The two upper floors in each of 5 Pavilions are fitted up as Wards.

The entire design contemplates 5 of these Pavilions. The 1st Wards having accommodation for 62 Patients. The Pavilion occupying the centre space in the front of the Building is devoted, on the Ground floor, to the Taking department, and on the Upper floor, to the Operating Theater. The concrete should be about 6 inches thick.

The Taking Department has a Room, a Waiting Room for Patients and a Surgeon Physician's Room with lavatory and WC attached. Under the Centre Pavilion on the opposite side of the Corridor are offices and Servatories for the use of the Assistant and Student.

On the Ground floor, between the Pavilions on the south side, provision is made for the Kitchen, scullery and the necessary office and store Rooms. In a corresponding position on the north side, there is a Laboratory and the stores for drugs and various implements.

Provision is also made on the Ground floor for a Day Room for Nurses and a certain number of Sleeping Compartments for Nurses when off duty.
