FAREWELL GATHERING AT POLICE CLUB
Mombers of the Pollco Recreation Club foregathered in large numbers at the Club, Happy Valley, last night when Mr., Donald Burlingham, Deputy Inspector General of Police, was pro- sented with a set of Peking, rugs from members of the Police R.C., and a silver salver, auitably inscribed with the signatures of fellow Superinten- donts of the Force.

On behalf of the members of the Polleo R.C., Inspector Shaftein pre- sented Mr. Burlinghani with the General of Police, on behalf of the while the Inspector Peking rugs Superintendents, made the presenta tion of the salver.
"Many of us have attended· func- tions of this nature," said Inspector Shaftain, "but I doubt if we have ever before attended a similar function with such mixed feelings."

Shaftain added that they wero all conscious of losing a friend who was niways in their hearts. They re- grotted very deeply and sincerely the departure of Mr. Burlingham.
Concluding, the Chairman remarked
that Mr. Burlingham was "British to the core and had his heart and soul in the sporting activities of the Police Force."
During the absence of the Hon. Mr. King, Mr. Burlingham had proved himself the possessor of wonderful nd-| ministrative powers.
"Our Donald, God Bless him," said the Chairman in proposing the toast of long life and happiness to Mr. and Birs. Burlingham,
The Hon. Mr. King, in making the presentation on behalf of the Police Superintendents, referred to Mr. Bur- ngham as "a keen and efficient police officer."
Mr. Burlingham suitably replied and was warmly applauded.
The Hongkong Hotel band was in attendance at dinner andrendered ap propriate music, and an impromptu concert was also greatly enjoyed."

Modame Lottie Gordon will play one of Lizet' great master-pieces "Gaudeamen Igiture," Rachmaninoffs Prelude in C minor, Chopins Polonaize in C minor, and many of .ber Australian-Hongkong composi tions. Madame Gordon's vocal num. bers will include "Titania's Song" from "Mignon.”
Madane Gordon will be assisted by the talented Germa violiniste. Frau Elise Schroeter, who will ap pear in Bach's most difficult works, also Madame Dresfla, in special Bus- Bian Gipsy songa. Miss Clotilde Andrade, a young pianiste, will make her first appearance, and the Misses Dorothy and Winifred Raven and Mr. Samson Moore will appear in short acene from Shakespeare's "As you Uko it."
Tickets may be obtained at Tanng Fook, Anderson's and Moutrio's, and from Madame Gordon, 14 Hart's Avenue, Kowloon.
The concert is in aid of the blind girls, and the Music Link extension fund.
