The Society for the Protoction of Children is endeavouring to relieva the misery and distress that is to rampant, but it is tied down by lack of money. Last year its total revenue was the princely sum of $17,448,30—a sum hopofessly inadequate to do more than touch the fringe of tho gigantic task upon which it has embarked,
