In this match Kowloon Tong re vealed lack of staying powers. In nearly every game the first 15 to 20 points were closely contested. Twice visiting pairs secured five and six points lead at the start of the games anly to fail brick in the subsequent exchanges.
The margin of points does not ne curately convey the interesting strug gles in some of the games, although the Chinese were undeniably the bet- ter team in every 'respect,
Kowloon Tong came within an ace of robbing the homesters of their clean sheet when White and Gray forced C. P. I and II. W. Ho to a setted game and they also extended Yung and Chan to the full to win 21--13. 62 But the superior courtcraft of the Chinese pairs made their ultimate success inevitable.

SATURDAY'S ENGLISH CUP-TIE PROSPECTS
AMATEUR CLUBS OUT OF LUCK WITH THE DRAW
CORINTHIANS FACE A STIFF TASK
(By "Veritas").
-The 1935-36 F. A. Cup competition enters upon its first interesting stage this Saturday when Third Division teams, hitherto exempted, figure in the first round proper. There are 34 matches for decision and the survivors will have to contest another round before receiving the opportunity of trying con- clusions with the more famous teams.
Forty seven of the first, second und third division clubs receive round exemption until the third proper which is played on January 11, and they, together with the f winners in the second round go to make up what is usually regarded OB the competition proper.
But this week the smaller profes- sional clubs and several of the more Important amateur aides, will clash in interesting tles.
But
CORINTHIANS BAD DRAW
The Corinthians, despite active and of voluble opposition on the part many of the bigger clubs, have re- ceived exemption until this round. the draw has not been too favourable to the famous amateur lub. They have to visit Reading, fat present leaders of the southern section of the Thiri Division and one of the finest southern teams outside of London. If Reading produce cur rent league form they will probably beat the Corinthians easily.
Dulwich Hamlet, another known
amateur team, have nt home to Torquay, a third division side and they are bound to give the Devonshire men a stiff en- counter.

Two matches in the "B" Division of the Mamak Hockey Tournament are being played this afternoon.
The highly developed network of C. Y. Yung and S. P. Chan left the visiting pairs somewhat nonplussed. Previous experience had taught them
but
meantime I hear that Mr. Kirkwood had started practice and is showing excellent form. If it is maintained there is small doubt that the ladies section of the Fire Brigade mixed doubles team will be Mrs. Shute, Mrs. Kirkwood and Miss Madge Grimtha. There are two games of unusual interest to-night when St. Andrew's visit the Fire Brigade and the two Recreio teams come into conflict. They are men's doubles matches.
