FRANCE ANXIOUS OVER WAR PREPARATIONS

Paris, Sept. 19,

M. Pierre Laval, the French Prime Minister, ac- cording to L'Intransigeant's correspondent at Geneva, declared in talks this morning that the Committee of Five's proposals would be considered by the British Government as "the extreme limit" of concessions possible to Italy, and as the League of Nations' last word.

It is learned from Geneva that the Committee of Five held a brief meeting to-day at which Senor de Madariaga, the chairman, reported upon his mission to the Ethiopian and Italian delegates, to whom he handed the Committee's aide memoire. concerning its peace proposals.

Saturday is tentatively fixed for the next meeting in expectation of Italy's reply being sent following the meeting of Rome's Council of Ministers.
