WON'T COMPROMISE SAYS SPOKESMAN
FRANCE ANXIOUS OVER WAR PREPARATIONS
Paris, Sept. 19.
M. Pierre Laval, the French Prime Minister, ac- cording to L'Intransigeant's correspondent at Geneva,
H.M.S. Hond, the world's biggest warship, which has been transfe vred from the Home Fleet to the
Mediterranen in connection with the Italo-Ethiopian crisis,,
declared in talks this morning that the Committee of LABOURITES
Five's proposals would be considered by the British Government as "the extreme limit" of concessions possible to Italy, and as the League of Nations' last word.
It is learned from Geneva that the Committee of] Five held a brief meeting to-day at which Senor de Madariaga, the chairman, reported upon his mission to the Ethiopian and Italian delegates, to whom he handed the Committee's aide memoire, concerning its peace proposals.
Saturday is tentatively fixed for the next meeting) in expectation of Italy's reply being sent following the meeting of Rome's Council of Ministers.
The Committee also discussed | leakages of news regarding its proposals, which were compara- tively full and accurate, although all members of the Committee had sigreed to observe absolute dis- cretion. It
decided that nothing could be done in this matter, however.-Reuter.

Addis Ababa, Sept. 19. Ethiopia expects the Italians to attack from five fronts simultaneously:
The first assault position is in the north-west, at Gondar, the second is in the north, at Asmara and the third is in the east, at Assab. All of these advances will be supported by war planes.
From the south the Italians are expected to attack from Ualual, scene of the clash which was made the excuse for the present crisis, and their fifth assaulting force is expected from Somaliland, from which territory it will ford the Webbewhebili River and march towards Addis Ababa.
