HELP FOR CHILDREN IN THE COLONY
HOPE FOR HOSPITAL IN BOTH HONGKONG AND
KOWLOON
The question of adequate hospital accommodation for the poorer-class children of the Colony Is one that has been revived from time to time, and recently has received added interest owing to the functioning of the Society for the Protection of Children. With the impending de- molition of the old Government Civil Hospital, when the new struc- ture is completed, It occurred to the Society that here was an opportu nity for accommodation of a Hong- kung children's hospital, and the Government were approached with a view to giving the Society a portion of the old G.C.H. building for this purpose. It is learned that Govern- ment has replied that the matter iş receiving consideration.
Should the project go through, the Island will have, for the first time, an Institution where needy sick children can be cared for. The Society some time ago advocated this scheme, and also the need for
a similar hospital on the mainland. In connection with Kowloon, there has been for about three or four years past, a small children's
