I think that much good might
be done by the presence of
English
Ships; it might survey these islands,
and enter into friendly relations with the inhabitants. But perhaps he is moving
a little fast in proposing the
conclusion of treaties with them. However

trade conventions, if practicable, it will
effectually dispose of the Spanish claims.
