LEADERS RESIGN
LEFTIST OFFICIALS
LEAVE 'NANKING
Nanking, Aug. 10. Following the resignation of Mr. Wang Ching-wei, the President of the Executive Yoan and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the Overseas Affairs Commission, Mr. Chen Shu-joen, petitioned the Executive Yuan last evening, asking that he might be relieved of his office.
Mr. Chen Shu-Jen does not givċ any definite reason, but deplores the lack of accomplishments during his tenure of office and requests the Government to appoint a more able person to succeed him.
Mr. Chen's petition is addressed to the Acting President of the Executive Yuan, Mr. H. H. Kung, the Minister of Finance-Reuter,
As a close associate of Mr. Wang Ching-wei and one of the lenders of the Left Wing of which Mr. Wang Ching-wei is the head, Mr. Chen Shu-fen's resignation is not unexpected.
Government's Reply
Nanking, Aug. 9. It is learned here that the Cen tral authorities are doing their best to urge Mr. Wang Ching-wei to withdraw his resignation.-Cen- tral News.
Asked to Reconsider
Shanghai, Aug. 11. It is understood that a tele- grum has been sent to Mr. Wang Ching-wei by Mr. Lin Sen from Kuling urging him to continue In office.
Mr. Yeh Two chang, who recent ly left for Tsingtao on behalf of the Central Government to pur- sunda Mr. Wang to remain in his office, arrived there yesterday.
It is generally believed in officia! cireles that there is a possibility that Mr. Wang will withdraw his resignation.
The Central Government will not readily accept the resignation and the telegramı from Mt. Wang Ching-wei containing his applien- tion to resign has not been brought up for oficial discussion.
The resignation will probably be formally announced at the ordinary meeting of the Central Govern ment leaders on Thursday, when Mr. Yeh T80-chang is expected to report the mecting on his mission to Tsingtao.Wah Kin Yat Po.. Mr. Hu Han-min's Prospecta Canton. Aug. 10. Official circles here are not sur- prised at the resignation of Mr. Mr. Wang Ching-wel, as such development has been expected since Mr. Wang Ching-wei teft Nanking. While authorities de- cline to comment on his resignation, It is generally believed that sweep. ing changes in the Nanking regime will follow, possibly uffecting China's foreign policy.
At present, Interest here is still centred in the future of Mr. Hu Han-man, who is at present in Switzerland, and whether he will. be proceeding to Nanking to hend the Government. Offcial circles regard such developments as sible, but think that Mr. Hu Han- min will go to Nanking only after Nanking has accepted the line of polley which he advocated.
It is believed that Important negotiations between Mr. Hu Han- min and Mr. Wang Chung-hul (former President of the Nanking Judicial Yuan) are still proceeding, Menawhile the visit to the South of General Wang Shao-hung, the Chekiang Governor, la arousing the ufmost interest. It is believed that he is endeavouring to carry out a most important political mis- sion, although he has declared that his visit is of an entirely private nature.
From all Indications it appears certain that the next few weeks will seo a
complete Government reshuffle in Nanking, which may possibly
facilitate a Nanking. Canton rapprochement.-Reuter.
