Geneva, Aug. 1. The European crisis has been temporarily averted. League intervention in the Italo-Abyssinian dis- pute has been obviated, or at least delayed until Septem- ber. Postponement of League Council action was decided upon late to-night when the representatives of the major powers concerned agreed to a compromise.

The Anglo-French efforts to find a formula temporarily averting war and saving the League, was pro nounced unacceptable by Mussolini, but the three powers eventually reached agreement.
