DEATH FOLLOWS OPERATION
REMARKABLE CASE
The aminzing story of a man who swallowed 600 articles, including spoons, knives, ment hooks, a span- ner, and safety pins, under the delusion that "his stomach was too : smooth" is told in the British Medical Journal.
The pallent, a single man, að farmer aged 28, was admitted to the County Mental Hospital, Upton, Chester, na a temporary patient, He was X-rayed, when the mass of articles was noticed, and was later operated upon, when some of the articles were removed. Great diffi culty was experienced to avoid bringing out too many of the for- eign bodies, as they were' matted, and the extraordinary diversity of form of the articles necessitated much care. Large masses of tissue almost burled many of the articles.
