PERCY ALLISS AGAIN!
BRILLIANT - WIN ́IN SCOTLAND
ROUND OF 66
London, June 20. Percy Allisa (Beaconsfield) is -the man' of the moment in profes- sional golf. He won the inaugural three-day Scottish Open champion- ship yesterday with an aggregato of 278 for the 72 holes on the King's course at Gleneagles.
Less than a fortnight.ngo he was runner-up for the Leeds tourna ment, beaten in a great fight by Henry Cotton. A few months agu Alliss won the Italian Open cham- pionship with the wonderful aggre- gate of 262, with 67 as the worst of four rounds.
Gleneagles King's course is a more-evere test, and his aggre- gate of 278 has only been beaten in tournaments. held aver courses of much shorter length. Glene- agles is made for championship play, and the British women's event has been held there.
THE HONGKONG. TELEGRAPH. MONDAY,
The idiom of crickol still parvades the game of baseball after its adoption in ́s limited way in Eng- land. British sport fans welcome the colour injected into the American gama, but cannot forego their efforts to link it up with their own favourite summer sport. As far as equipment goes, avarything was fine when Streatham was matched with Putney (above), but here is'an English captión writer's descrip. tion of the action displayed. "Tha Putney pitcher bowlad a clover fait öne setõus the "square", which the Streatham player missed completely for a strike „The basekeeper and referme are shown. The most remarkable feature of Third
Allas's performance is that ho broke the record by returning 66 for his final round, on which he had progressed only n fow holes before he knew that a 60 was re- quired. He had to beat a man who had already set a hot pace-J. J. Busson having finished with 277.

Leeds
That 60, however, spreadeagled the ENGLAND BAT BUT field. His success yesterday will make him a strong fancy for, next week's British Open.
Allias had four strokes to spare from J. J. Busson, who was second, with R. Burton, the first pace- maker in the final round, third. Burton had also beaten an averago of 70 strokes per round with his aggregate of 270. All three had. during the four rounds, equalled the original record of 67 once, be- fore Allina lowered the figure.
There was a spate of low scor. Ing at the close of the day, Ernest Whitcombe, Syd Easterbrook, and W. J. Cox all having a final round of 68, while A. M. Chevalier went one better with 67. In all cases they were too many strokes behind to stand any chance of catching Alliss. The first amateur was Mr. J. Lindsay (Glasgow University), who was among the players with an aggregate of 294.
