Rene Clair to Direct Donat In Yellow And Brown

Rene Clair will direct his first British picture for London Film Productions this month.
The star of this film will be Robert Donat, who was last seen in the title role in "The Count of Monte Cristo," and has since made "Thirty-nine Steps."
Rene Clair atated that he has been anxious to direct Robert Donat ever since he saw him while on a visit to London in the stage play, "Tho Sleeping Clergyman." He regarda Robert Donat as one of the greatest young male actors yet dis- covered for the international screen.
As soon as Rene Clair has com- pleted the Robert Donnt starring vehicle, he will direct another Lon- don Film Production with Charles Laughton in the leading role.
This will be Edmond Rostand's famous play, "Cyrano de Bergerac,"{
Charles Laughton will play Cyranoplay and Penelope Dudley, Ward is to be Roxane.
Miss Dudley Ward is being pro- moted to the leading woman's part after only one picture, "Escape Me Never."
MARLENE DIETRICH'S FUTURE Marlene Dietrich, the German film star, has in Hollywood signed n new contract with Paramount at the rate of £100,000 a year-£50,- 000 each for two films a your. That is the greatest sum she has yet received.
