Following their five-wicket defeat by Middlesex in their first match of the season, Lancashire, last year's champions, suffered yet another defeat in the County Cricket Championship when they visited Leicester, being beaten by Leicestershire by 129 runs. Geary, the former Test bowler, was greatly instrumental in causing the collapse of the champions in their second. innings which realised only 73 runs.

The review of the past season has gone
one week later than it should, and I must apologise for it. Were all matches printed in full in the local press, it would be reasonably easy to keep one's own records, But, as it is, the question of space entirely precludes the possibility of this, and one is rather dependent on the club score book; which very often is only made up in time for the Annual meetings much later in the summer.
