Warm tributes to the services rendered to the Colony by His, Excellency the Governor and Lady Peel were expressed in fare- well addresses presented, on behalf of the European and Chinese communities, to Sir William Peel at a public meeting held at the University last evening.

In replying, His Excellency referred to the prevalling depres Bion and expressed the view that whilst it was doubtful whether the Colony would over again see the halcyon days of the past, he was confident that with an improved International situation, economic and political, Hongkong would regain in substantial measure its former prosperity.

Sir William Peel stated that he had pressed the need of placing Hongkong on the air map, and assured his hearers that the Home Government was fully alive to the urgency of the matter. adding that he felt sure that in a very short time Hongkong would bo connected by air with England.
