Witness asserted that the first impression shown him was caused by a dirty finger mark, but, on being shown other clear impres sions which Mr. Jenkin said ap peared on every page of the book, he suggested that it was caused by the stamps being so damp that they absorbed the mark of the chop made months earlier.
Counsel then pointed out that the impression not only covered the stamp but part of the page as woll.
Mr Jonkin: The fact that stumped documents of this nature passed between you would be use- ful in showing that you and Tung Tak were not partners?
Witness wad understood to say he did not know that stamped unnecessary be- receipts were

Counsel suggested that it might be a coincidence that the Tung Tak receipt chop was missing, and witness replied that he knew nothing of this chop.
A DENIAL
Mr. Jenkin: 1 put. It to you that the Tung Woo, Tung Chan and Tung Fook firms found that you were getting into trouble with foreign leather suppliers, whole- salers, and could not get leather from them on credit and therefore decided to form the Tunk Tak frm?
Witness: It is not true.
