YESTERDAY.
New York, April 17. The following reports on tho New York Stock market have been received through Mesars, Swan, Culbertson & Frits: The Wall Street Journal report on yesterday's market: Stocka were downward, led by vallroad issues, due to the announcement by the Chicago and North Western Railway Company that it would take the GO- day race period to meet the interest payments on t convertible. 4%%% bonds, due in 1949. The Stock Ex- change est Call Money to 1/4%, the lowest in history, but this action has failed to stimulate activity. Bonds were unsetthet, due to the nellon of railroad jasu09. Stocks on the Curb Exelange were downward.
S. C. & F. New York office cubĺča: Average daily production of petro- leum for the week ended April 13 was estimated at 2,582,000 barrels, com- pared with 2,538,000 barrels the pre- vious week. Weekly electricity pro- duction, totalled 1,725,000,000 kw.h., an incrense of 5.1 per cent, as com pared with the corresponding period of last year.
New York and Chiengo commodity reports received through Messra. Swan, Culbertson and Fritz:-
Cotton: The Government's weekly crop report was unfavourable, but holiday liquidation was a fenture of the market.
Wheat: There was sume siling over the holiday on Friday here and the long holidays abroad. The general situation remains unchanged in the South-West, with the dry area, re- (ported to be spreading.
