In reply to
to your letter
of the
th instant I have to state I cannot
discover that the Certificate relating to
payment of Sir Arthur Kennedy's
salary has been received at this Department.
It appears however that Sir
A Kennedy wrote a letter to Messrs Cox & Co
on
the 26th April last Enclosing
a certificate to enable them to draw the
half salary of his office of
Governor of
Hong Kong while in England. Messrs
Cox assert that they forwarded that
certificate to this office in a covering
letter to Hon. J. H. Meade.
