TSUI BROTHERS SMASH THEIR WAY TO VICTORY

SPARKLING TENNIS IN

OPEN DOUBLES

WONG SHUI WING PUTS UP A FINE PERFORMANCE

SUPERIOR COMBINATION TURNS TIDE

(By "Veritas")

The best tennis of the tournament to date was seen at the Hongkong Cricket Club yester- day when Tsui Wai-pui and his brother Tsui Yun- .pui scored a clever win in the open doubles championship, thus qualifying for the second round.

The Tsui brothers were taken to the start he committed shocking three hard sets by Wong Shui-wing blunders. and Luk Chun chúng, thì ncores bo lag 2-4, 6-2, 0-3.

The winners were better balanced after a shocking start, and this pro vided sufficient edge over their opponents to turn the tables favour- ably. Yet it was Wong Shui-wing who captured the dye, this young_be- spectacled player giving a very fine display of all-court tennis, and com. pletely overshadowing his partner.

Wong Bhul-wing was by far the most consistent player on view, and his brilliance in the first set rightly earned the losern' a useful advant- age. Luk's most effective shot was a” sizzling forehand drive. He volleyed TE gularly but without power and kis smashes were not aufciently well directed to score the points they should. Luk, however, was admirable in defence picking up hard "kills" fu great stylo. · Had hís not play been tile more decisive, a different result would probably have material- ined.
