An unemployed Russian man, Doris N. Bataloff, 31, who used a similar method to come to Hong-Japan kong by evading the barrier at the Railway Station, was sentenced to one mouth's hard labour for enter- ing the Colony without a valid pass- port.
Sergt. Mottram stated that de- fendant was found by Det-Sergt. Kriloff, of the Special Branch, near the Jordan Road ferry. He stated he came from Canton with a Yugo- Slavian who could not be found. They intended to stow away on the steamer General Pershing, but the Vessel had alrendy left. Defendant would not have been granted per- mission to come to Hongkong even if he had applied. He Was con- sidered undesirable.
Sergt. Mottram asked his Wor ship to take a serious view owing to the increase in this type of cases. An expulsion order was made by his Worship.

For the chief male-voice parts, the Society has ben fortunate In securing the nasistance of Mr. W. J. T. Phelps, and Mr. W. H. Billing, tenor and baritone, respectively. The final rehearsal will take Club place in the China Fleet Theatre at 8.30, on the evening of Wednesday, March 6 when Ser- vice men will be admitted free of charge.
