Colonial Service in Warwick, my grateful thanks for the concession Your Lordship has been good enough to sanction in reference to the payment of portions of salaries, under certain circumstances, through the Crown Agents.

In order to carry this arrangement into effect, I would propose to adopt Forms similar to the enclosed, one of which would be transmitted to Your Lordship, and the other to the Crown Agent.

It is with some diffidence that I ask for any further extension of the concession granted, but I would solicit Your Lordship's favourable consideration for permission to pass orders (not under £50) in favour of the Crown Agents for disbursements, for Auction payments, payment of Insurances, and other necessaries. The privilege would be a great boon to many deserving Officers, and it would not, I apprehend, entail much trouble on the Crown Agents or expense on the Treasury.

I may perhaps be allowed to state that Officers of Her Majesty's Naval Service at Hong Kong draw the whole of their salaries at Hong Kong, and ...
