Copy of Telegram addressed to the Major General Commanding China and Straits Settlements, by the Colonial Secretary, Singapore on the 7th November 1870, received on the 9th November 1870.
"The forces at Perak have sustained a reverse, thirteen Officers killed and wounded; Governor keen to move. Gray seized 300 men at once, I will telegraph home for further communication from there. They think Indian Troops more convenient."
