STRANDED USEFUL SUIT IN LONDON For Every Day Wear

JOURNALIST or a writer
A usually manages to be strand-
ed at some time or other during a normal fatima. It is all part of the training. And to be iemale, foreign and stranded in London on a rainy November day makus it just a lttio more decorative.
This particular writer toundi herself being pushed to the wail by a peculiar set of circumstances a fow days ago. Money was due, but devilishiy delayed. Friends were out of town. So at noon of a groy day, with the rain just bo ginning, she walked out of her hotel, leaving her baggage and typewriter as security, nothing to wear but the clothes on her back, and sixpence in her purse.
The sixpence was eventually nugmented by another, gained by the sale of a very unusual hand- carved silver ring. The werk on the ring was worth a great deal, but on the scale it was worth only alxpence. Or so the woman who bought it across the jewellery counter said. She was rather a pleasant woman at that, and scem- ed touched by the customer's casual point of view.
"No one cries about throwing away a pioca of clothing after one has had wear and joy out of it," 1 said. "Why should one feel different about Jewellery?"
