It is to be regretted that the heavy Dutch Govt will sustain loss by this affair - ($50,000 one item alone). The abandonment of the charter of the "Abbotsford" at the same time had strong grounds for suspecting some fraud & indeed the declaration in writing of Mr Graneveld the Dutch Agent that all the Chinamen employed were free of any Contract was incorrect.
