A query raised in the last Quarterly Returns
It was there stated that Mr
11519. Ball's employment
was
a temporary
arrangement, & that the estimates of the Department covered the expenditure: I noticed that there was no office
with the exact title attributed to him, & surmised that he belonged to the class of Officers, whom Sir A. Kennedy wished to substitute for the old cadets.
It now appears that his salary is classed as an addition to the estimates of the Department
