have continually to inspect brothels reported by the inspectors.
Since this work has been done "Typhoid case has been
reported
in the last twelve
months, and it was in doing this and similar work that
I myself was attacked by Typhoid.
There are a hundred and six houses in all,
and twenty-six at various parts of the town containing one thousand two hundred and seventy-three prostitutes with nearly as many attendants. Besides this, the European women have come under inspection during the last twelve months and are visited at their own houses.
All this work has never been done by any of my predecessors and is a good deal more than double the work required under Ordinance 10, 1867.
