Service but also in British Guiana, Barbados, St. Christophers, Grenada Islands, and Jamaica, which from their proximity to England give to their Officers an advantage which is not open to those serving in Hong Kong, of spending three months of the Vacation Leave in England.
If all or any of the advantages claimed by the Memorialists are granted, it will be necessary to amend the Pension Minute or Ordinance, and in either case I would suggest the expediency of assimilating as far as possible the Pension Minutes of the three Eastern Colonies, viz:- Ceylon, the Straits Settlements, and Hong Kong, especially in reference to the Judges and the Student Interpreters, whose cases are dealt with in the Memorials addressed to me, of which I enclose copies.
8. In reference to the latter, I would draw especial attention to the fact of the first batch of Cadets having been appointed before the Pension Minute of this Colony was drafted, and to the understanding that they would enjoy the same advantages as those serving in other Colonies.
