(By "Varitus").
The stage is all set for next Tuesday's important meeting of badminton clubs, and it is, perhaps, not going too far to suggest that the future success of the game in Hongkong stands or falls on the result of this meeting.
Clubs, which have already signified their desire to participate in a league this winter, are being called together to decide whether the organisation known as the Badminton League shall form itself into a Badmin- ton Association, vested with full powers to control the game in the Colony and to conduct league, champion- ships, and other events.

LEAGUE RULES.

Another ruling which may need fur- ther treatment is that pertaining to the rights of pinyers playing for more than one club in the league. The issue is whether a player, who la a member of two clubs competing in the league, shall be able to play for both under special circumstances. The "special circumstances" are that one of his cluba has A team

SPORTING RULE.
The intention behind this rule in obviously to afford all players every opportunity to play as much league tennis as possible.. It is a rule which is very open to abuse, but there is not the slightest reason to believe that any unfair advantage will be taken of it.
Another effort to prevent matches being slavishly governed by "the Inw is the rule which allows a sub. stitute to take the place of any mem- ber of a team injured during a match and unable to continue. Here again
