The Surveyor General was also present and explained to the Council the details of his two Projects and the distribution of the present Supply of Water. The Council had, too, the satisfaction of considering with his aid the admirable drawings which accompany his Report, and I believe that nothing was wanting to enable them to deal with the whole question in its entirety.

The conclusions arrived at were as follows:

(1). That it was of the highest importance to obtain an increased supply of water

(ii). That the High Level Project which would only provide for increased supply of 3/4 gallon per head at a cost of £39,000, being a project incapable of future extension or enlargement, be set aside

(iii). That it would be advisable to undertake the Low Level Project, though at present in a modified form only.
