Washington, Sept. 19.
Mr. Claude Swanson, Secretary of the Navy Department, has announced that next summer's ficet manoeuvres will be held in the Pacific.
Preparations are already being mado, the plan of operations drawn up and the scheme of supply for a huge fleet is in the making.
Mr. Swanson states that the fleet will operate between Alanin and
Puget Sound and Hawaii, along Amerien's blind Alde."
Experts have long realised that Alanka would be a most difcult territory to defend in the event of an attack from the Pacific, and that once an enemy gained a fooothold there it would be a Batisfactory base for operations against tho United States proper.
