"The Wandering Jew"
The screen version of the fascinal- ing story of the Wandering Jew is a "big 'canvas" picture, now at the Queen's Theatre and rande with the chisest attention to detail, finely neted, sumptously set and beautifully photographed. The ancient legend of the Wondering Jew Is one of the many. curiously fascinating myths of the Middle Ages. This story of the Jew who apat upon the Nazarene on the day of the Crucifixion and was, con-i demned, in consequence, to wander about the world through the ages has been told in many tongues. The screen version is the most dramatic, the most complete, and the most re- verent rendering of the great_theme. Maurice Elvey was responsible for the direction of the "silent" pleture ten years ago, and in this new film has
again demonstrated his flair for the large canvas. Perhaps nothing more clearly demonstrates the immense advance in cinematographle technique then the contrast between this new film and the then outstanding produc tion of 102.
