Rebels Hold Chancellery For Hours

Dr. Dollfuss, Austria's 'diminu- tive Chancellor, was murdered by the Nazi rebels who captured the Chancellery in a surprise attack yesterday morning.

He was shot in the neck and shoulder and bled to death.

The rebels were in control of the Chancellery for hours, with the Cabinet as prisoners. The Minis- ters' later released on the interven- tion of the German Minister, to Austria, who secured a promise of a safe conduct for the rebels to the German border.

The German Minister acted without any authority from Berlin and has been recalled.
