CORRESPONDENCE
British Films,
To the Editor,
Hongkong Telegraph.
Sir, I have rend in your cor respondence column of yesterday the very lengthy article lgned by "Citizon" and appreciate ini- mensely the Interest shown by this gentleman with regards to British films being shown in the Colony. I must, however, point out to this gentleman that un. fortunately not many of the other "Citizens" have proved their ap- preciation of British pictures by patrenising them in mass, when- ever shown in Hongkong.
My reasons for making such a wild statement (although true)
ค
because the International Films (China) Ltd. which I represent in South China, have shown several British International Pictures at the Contral Theatre and outside of a mediocre attendance for "Mald of the Mountains", such others like, "Sally Bishop." "Song You Gave Mo, "Southern Maid' and "Facing the Music" had disastrous results and could anfely say that only 5% of the British theatre patrons showed their apprecia- tion by coming to see these pic- turca.
We have such pictures as yet to be shown in Hongkong, "F. P. 1 Doesn't Reply," "Early to Bod," "Sleepless Nights," "Heads We Go," Timbuctoo,
"Viennese Waltz," "Love Nest," "You Made Me. Love You," "I Spr," "Meet My Sister," "A Taxi to Paradise," all of them 100% British pictures. Can we expect from the British residents of Hongkong better co- operation than we had hereto fore?
J. Ros, International Films (China) Ltd.
