The scenes pictured above were taken at Unzen after the disastrous Yumei Hotel fire of July 6, which razed two resort establishments to the ground and from which some 50 foreign guests made a midnight escape from windows and emergency exits. Mrs. N. M. Ginys, elderly, Shasighal resident, died the following day from injurias received when she fell from Indder. At upper left are shown the charred ruins of the Tumsi Hotel. As may be seen, not a single.portion of the building was infe stand- ing. In the background are shown Observatory Hill and the skeleton structure of hotel building which was begun some five years ago and abandonad before completion.
