Narglong. N:86
13th July 1875.
Administrator J. Gardiner Austin
The Right Honorable
The Earl
of Carnarvon.
Public and Bank Holidays. Ordinance No. 6 of 1875: Transmits and
requests confirmation of
Statement of Objects and Reasons.
This Ordinance is adapted from the Bank Holidays Act, 1871,
(34 Vic. c. 17), and from a similar Ordinance in force in the Mauritius, and does not require any lengthened explanation. The object of the Ordinance is to regulate by law, and at the same time to give legal sanction to, days for closing the banks in the Colony, instead of leaving them as at present to the discretion of the bank managers.
Hongkong, 28th June, 1875.
JOHN BRAMSTON, Attorney General.
