The Hon. Sir William Shenton forwards us the following copy of a letter which he has address- ed to Mr. Stanley H. Dodwell on the question of the Colony's free port status. He adds that he thinke he has carried the matter as far as it should be carried in public correspondence.

correct, because we are all trying to discover the reason why this Colony does not in several respects appear to be so prosperous is in days gone by.
