AN
IMPORTANT
ANNOUNCEMENT
To The Theatregoers of Hong Kong and Eurirona:
The Management of the QUEEN'S THEATRE has the honour to announce the advent of what is. past peradventure, the most pretentious theatrical attraction ever to visit the Far East.
Commencing Sanday matinec, June 10, and continuing for a strictly limited engagement only, the Greater MARCUS SHOW of 1934 will be offered at the QUEEN'S THEATRE. The company numbers seventy persons and is by far the most populous theatrical organization that hus ever been brought to the Orient from abroad.. Long regarded as among the foremost of American extravaganzas, the Greater MARCUS SHOW of 1934 is being presented in the Eastern Hemisphere precisely it was for many seasons in the leading legitimate playhouses of the WITHOUT United States and Canada ****** attentuation and WITHOUT abridgement.
The Greater MARCUS SHOW of 1934 will come to HONG KONG directly following its amazingly successful run at Shanghai where it enjoyed a run of six weeks, more than duplicat- ing there Its sensational stay of fifty days at Nippon Gekijo, Tokyo. Aside from the popular reaction as testified by the lengthy engagements of the Greater MARCUS SHOW of 1934 in both Tokyo and Shanghai, the press of the two cities were in unanimity in nuding alike the merit of the presentations and the enterprise of its entre- preneurs in bringing productions of such opulence and artistic worth to the Far East.
Three different and distinct extravaganzas will be presented by the Greater MARCUS SHOW during its brief stand at the QUEEN'S. - LA VIE PAREE, a revue in two acts and thirty scenes-many highly bizarre and spectacular, will be the inaugural bill starting Sunday malinee, June 10. Later BROADWAY MERRY- GO-ROUND and OKAY will be staged.
Two complete, two-and-three-quarter-hour, all-flesh-no picture-stage performances will be given every day **** starting at 5:30 and 9.15 P.M.
Despite the large expense of touring an attraction of this magnitude in the Orient the PRICES SCALE AT THE QUEEN'S will NOT EXCEED the tariff in vogue for the Greater MARCUS SHOW doring its appearances in the first class theatres of the United States and Canada and will, in fact, BE LESS than the scales charged in Tokyo (17.00) and Shanghai
