I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's despatch of the 21st June No. 3215 and am gratified to find from it that the efforts made by this Government to lighten the difficulties in respect to the "Carisbrooke" and to warn other vessels from the coast of Hainan have been appreciated.
It is greatly to be regretted that such serious mistake should have been made.
