MOTHERWELL & RANGERS FOR SCOTTISH CUP FINAL

FEATURES OF EASTER PROGRAMME

BIG EFFECT ON PROMOTION & RELEGATION STRUGGLES

FASCINATING DUEL FOR FIRST DIVISION. CHAMPIONSHIP

(By "The Pilgrim")

The premier event during the week-end in Scottish football is the semi-final staged for Saturday when Rangers will no doubt qualify for the final round against Motherwell.

This is rather an obvious estimate shaken only by 'the comparative poor form of Motherwell and the rise

of St. Mirren.

Great little fighters as the latter must be to come so far in the cup over the heads of the Celtic Club, I fear that they are lacking in strategy and experience to get the advantage of the Motherwell combination.

Rangers are old and tried exponents of cup-ties and their form indicates that they will again have little difficulty in getting through to the final.

WITH THE ENGLISH LEAGUERS

The task of the prophet is Indeed a dificult one when confronted with such an extensive list of fixtures ns will be played off on the Home fields during Easter week-end.

As at Christmas-time this is a golden opportunity for Clubs to garner the few points which will put them on top or save them from the fear of relegation which

1s

6 ready beginning to cast its des- pondent cloud an some of last season's favourites.

Indeed with three or four matches before them in the apace of a week, this is really the last chance that these clubs will get but there are factors which make

an adequate forecast of the re- aults Impossible.

The most interesting feature of the football Easter egg Is the struggle at the top of the First Divison and Northern Section, where several clubs are in the running for honours,

Stockport and Chesterfield are separated by but two points and the greedy appetite that the Stock- port men are displaying in the goul-getting department means that Chesterfield will have to think of goal averagon an well as points.

4

Huddersfield and Arsenal, Jevel on points, will have

titanic fight in, which Derby and Spurs are closely concerned.

CUP-TIE FERVOUR1-London streamed in ita thavands to Highbury for the great cup-tle between the Arsenal and Aston Villa, as the above picture vividly illustratos. The Villa won a sensational game.

FOUR DAYS FOOTBALL FORECAST

SCOTTISH CUP AND LEAGUE: ENGLISH SENIOR PROGRAMME UP TO NEXT TUESDAY

(By "The Pilgrim")

To-day we give the special Telegraph forecast for Home football for four days, including the Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Monday and Tuesday programmes. As usual, where teams are in heavy type they are expected to win, and where no such indication is given, a drew is anticipated.

I think it may be a ease of one destroying the other with Spurs in at the finish. Somehow Hud-SPURS (- derafleld do not seem to bear the hall mark of consistency and tho Rams are another disappointing jeleven in this respect.

Injuries in one of the frat games, Bay those on Good Friday may affect adversely the remainder of the engagements, whilst the cup

FIVE MINUTES FOOTBALL.

Celtic are collapsing strangely for a team with auch a famous re- cord and with last week's defeat un their own ground they havo fallen considerably in the League.

A Lesson-To-Be Learnt From

Wing Play?

(By "Saracen")

Recently I saw Duncan, of Derby County, who by many is considered to be the best outside left in the game, and his display, varying considerably in important matters in each half, was a lesson for students of the game.
