All the known haunts of crooks in, the West End, particularly in the Soho district, were. being searched last night by detectives for a thief who took a leather case containing jewels valued at $1,600 from a car belonging to Mr. Quin ton Gilbey, of Haslemere, Surrey. Mr. Gilbey informed the Vine- street police that he and his wife had paid several visits in the West End, leaving the car" In a garage and at parking places between 1.30 and 4.30 p.m., when the jewels were missed.
