VANISH AFTER

PARKING CAR

London, Fob, 1.

All the known haunts of crooks in the West End, particularly in the Soho district, were being searched last night by detectives for a thief who took a leather case containing jewels valued at £1,800 from a car belonging to Mr. Quin- ton Gilbey, of Haslemere, Surrey. Mr. Gilbey Informed the Vine street police that he and his wife had paid sovoral-visits in the West End, leaving the car in a garage and at parking places between 1.80 and 4.80 p.m., when the jewels were missed.

"The Jewels belonged to Mrs. Gilbey," a member of the household told

the

News-Chronicle Inst n. night: "and she is inconsolable

Bentimental value."
